| Sun shifting through the trees hardy aspen and pine A single shaft of light makes shadows dance between fluttering wings of the humming bird She hovers smoothly in my line of sight a few short steps away Her tiny body bounces as if to acknowledge the silent applause in my eyes I hold the dice cup in my hand unwilling to break her spell with a rattling of cubes My daughter from the other side of the backgammon board shares my rapture We come here to share in the peace of the mountain to be alone together This day we are honored to have been blessed by the dance of the hummingbird --Tom "WordWulf" SternerHowe Copyright (c) 2005, Tom "WordWulf" SternerHowe.
